3D Projection
With the recent "buzz" in the consumer 3D TV market, why not try stereoscopic projection in your next event.
When the 3D or Stereo images are created, whether a movie or still images, left eye and right eye information needs to be captured. In the realms of 3D software, this is quite easy. Once your animation or sequence is created, 2 cameras are placed in the scene. They are locked together a little way apart from each other. The left camera is used to render the left eye information and visa-versa.
The left and right movies are then merged in special software. There are several formats for playing and projecting stereoscopic media. The simplest way is to convert the media into an Anaglyph, or filtered Red/Green channels. The projection system can be the standard equipment you will be using in your conference. The only difference is that the media is run from a special player and that the audience will have to wear Red/Green filtered specs.
The preferred method is to used polarised filters, the same system adopted by the cinemas. Two projectors are used with left & right eye information on each. The audience wear polarised glasses. The main drawback is that the projection surface needs to be made from a special material that preserves the polarisation of the projected light.
We now have in stock to rent new 3D projectors. These work by flicking between the left and right eye images. Active shutter glasses are syncronised to the screen via a sensor. This system is called DLP link
Of course still images are just as effective as moving ones. Anaglyphs can be printed, as well as, projected using standard printing methods. Branded disposable specs can be given out to passers by and can be used effectively in the exhibition environment.
